About Me
Here are a few “sound bites” about me you can throw
out there in case anyone doubts the depth of our friendship. I’m
44 years old and grew up on the Nez Perce reservation in Idaho.
My wife, Melissa, is Portuguese and loves soccer, Brazil, and
Owioste (our cat). We live in Seattle and enjoy gaming, rock climbing,
travel, dancing, and working in the game industry. I’ve
been attending
Gen Con for 13 years.
Gamer Friends
I know almost everyone who’s anyone in the world of gaming.
I could introduce you to lots of very cool gamers, Stephen, from
old school designers like Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, up through
hot new talent like Ron Edwards or Keith Baker. If you want some
of your artwork signed, I could introduce you to famous artists
like Larry Elmore and Rebecca Guay. I could even be able to get
you a prepress copy of the next Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman
book! Stephen, consider me your inside track to the who’s
who of gaming!
Gamer Credentials
Board wargames
I started playing Avalon Hill and SPI games in 1973. Favorites
were Panzer Blitz, Squad Leader, Third Reich, and War in the East.
We’ll have some great times playing these classics, Stephen.
Dungeons & Dragons
I’ve been playing since 1978 and I’ve run a campaign
most of that time called Chaldea. Your 23rd level wizard would
probably want to stay in the city where its safe. In 1997 I acquired
TSR through my previous company, Wizards of the Coast, and personally
led the design team for 3rd Edition D&D.
Magic: The Gathering
I have every theme deck that’s been published, so if you
forget to bring your deck to Gen Con, no problem, Stephen, I can
let you borrow some of mine. And you’ll love my art collection;
I have the original art for 5 of the “power 9 cards,”
including 3 of the moxes and Black Lotus!
Miniatures
I own about a thousand mini’s, mostly for D&D, plus
some Napoleanic armies. You prefer to play the French or the Russians?
Strategy games
If we decide to keep it light, we can break out games like Settlers
of Catan, Dune, Fast Food Franchise, Robo Rally, or Formula De,
just to name a few. Oh gosh we’ll have so much fun!
Clout
My friend Jesper Myrfors, the original art director for Magic:
The Gathering, designed this game where you throw chips. Hey,
maybe Jesper could be your “artist friend!” (I’ll
ask put in a good word for you.)
